We had our one night residential at Hill End in June, where we learnt about ancient settlements as part of our Vikings topic. We made stone age bread and spears! We had lots of fun team building on the obstacle course, toasting marshmallows in the evening, and building dens the next day.
We invited parents to join us as we all walked, jogged, or ran a mile (or more!) for Sports Relief. We also raised £96.30 with a non-uniform day.
Alongside children from other local primary schools Isis Class were invited to perform in a concert at Dorchester Abbey on the evening of Wednesday 21 March. The concert was organised by Radley College, in conjunction with the Footsteps Foundation, to fundraise for a new programme of music therapy at the Footsteps Centre.
For our Science Week this year we focused on animals. We had visitors from Crocodiles of the World and some of us visited Radley College to see some of their reptiles.
Cherwell class had living eggs for the week and we were all excited to see how many had hatched each day. We also all made investigations in small groups and presented our findings with posters as part of the Science Oxford Big Science Event. We all took part in Fairtrade Fortnight, learning more about what fair trade means. We raised £90.50 with a fair trade cake sale.
The donation we raised goes towards projects to bring Fairtrade to more farmers and workers, and help them improve their farms, build demand for their produce, and strengthen their voices to negotiate a fairer deal - so they can trade their way out of poverty. For World Book Day, we all braved the snow to come to school dressed as a favourite book character. The whole school read together and we also heard from an author about her book, it was really interesting and fun!
Thank-you for all of your support with the Christmas Fair. We raised an amazing £2000. This will go towards iPads for the children to support their learning.
As part of our French Topic, we dressed up in outfits related to France - including red, white and blue colours; famous French people in history; and even cheese and a train! We tasted some French food, it was yummy.
